Biography
Kent has been a licensed practitioner
in Colorado since 1994. He currently resides in Ridgway, CO, and is
affiliated with the Ridgway Integrative Medicine clinic. He was born and raised in a close family in rural western Colorado, and has lived in New Mexico and in Arizona. He resided on the Navajo Nation from 1978 through 1990, where he developed culturally relevant educational materials nationally for Native youth. He also by invitation of Native elders documented photographically sacred areas and then created national traveling art exhibitions of this art. See:

kenttompkins.com Clinically trained as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Kent has also received extensive training from Native American elders among the Navajo and Southern Cheyenne people.
His approach is solution-focused, out of respect for the client's ability to increasingly live in the present moment with accountability. The human brain is goal-seeking and problem solving, yet cannot grasp the infinite wisdom within each of us. Self discovery brings about healing, and this increased awareness in therapy allows the client to become truly who they are intended to be, fully accountable and
living in joy. Kent finds
that holding the image of a client as already complete is an invaluable
asset as they evolve. Kent chose to immerse himself in Nature and the foundations of Natural Law from an early age. Through academic education,
studying the laws of physics and life experience these foundations are now
merged into a healing practice of wellness from the clinical, scientific and spiritual approaches.

As a kid, Kent was usually outside. He maintains a strong athletic orientation, rides a bike regularly and teaches some fitness (Spin) classes in the winter. He is also very knowledgeable regarding whole foods, for the professional athlete and the weekend warrior. He's traveled extensively while photographing commercially or for new fine art material. He oftentimes combines his travel with spiritual retreats.
The bottom line is that Kent is
a person who will do his best to encourage you to do what's right, and when doing so... the healing will come. He respects the rights of others to say "no." He respects only assisting
those whose hand is out, and will confirm with you your readiness for change...
Kent also offers his services in a
workshop/retreat setting at times to allow for a
concentrated exchange in natural settings. His workshops/retreats are
in a Spirit of win-win, yet they are working retreats and participation is
required. See
